2.Enable DHCP in modem Yes, done 3. Test computer is connected to Internet. Not connected Here I'm trying to connect to internet using Sterlite in PPOE LLC mode first. No problem in the line. The MTNL perosn came in the morning & checked with other modem (white one) he got the ADSL link easily. So I changed the modem. But the problem persists.
Are offered to users who have subscribed for their landline phone and you will need to rent/buy a adsl modem in order to get started using this high speed internet connection. Here is a small tutorial on getting started installing this modem. Connect the modem with the landline phone and the other end to your computer’s CPU/laptop.
This would give you a dialog box with a message saying new hardware found, you need to install all the drivers from the installation CD provided in the modem box. Next open your browser and enter in the address bar and press enter where in you will give asked for the logins to the modem in a dialog box, enter ‘admin’ ‘admin’ as the login credentials and you will be logged into the modem.
Make sure you enter both the logins in small letters because the logins are case sensitive. Go to the Advanced setup menu and click on the WAN button. Click on the add button to create a configuration. Enter the VPI & VCI values provides by your ISP ie bsnl broadband authorities which generally are 0 & 35 respectively.

Select the connection type as PPPoE and click on the next button. Enter the PPPoE username & password which every bsnl broadband users are given via phone and click on next to save the configuration and you are done setting up the bsnl ADSL2+ super speed land line connection. Generally BSNL authorities offer a modem but i would recommend you guys to use a modem from Dlink because its far more better in terms of stable connection and speedy connectivity. Dont forget to try out getting a free modem from bsnl by using their. I am using BSNL Broadband service (2mbps) but the problems are always there.
To add insult to injury, the BSNL Customer care is almost ineffective, they are not even able to identify what is the problem! Is there any way to determine by ourselves whether the problem (like connectivity) is arising from the telephone exchange / line OR from the broadband server. For example – If I ping the server with -t, I get milliseconds ranging from 21 to 3000+!!! Does it mean the server is causing trouble OR is there a fault in my line? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks & Best Regards.
@harish What is the problem? A) No connection phone works b) connection intermittent c) very low speed d) sites not accessed e) any other. 1.Always mention your modem model. 2.In any Modem there will be a diagnostics page. Check there first.
See the ADSL status page showing SNR/ATTn/Mod selected/line speed etc. Usually if GDMT is selected frequent disconnections are reduced. 4.Once the modem is set, and working for a week or so there is nothing to adjust again and again.
If you are bold enough you can try FW update fo the modem. ( if something goes wrong you have a “Bricked” modem and BSNL may not replace it (whether on rent or outright purchase ) 6. Check speed at speedtest.net say Brisbane server and keep it as reference. 7.Use TCP/IP optimiser (and advice from speedguide.net ).
Thanks sir for replying. Well, my problem is there are times when an otherwise good working connection starts behaving badly. What I know is my modem settings are all right and telephone also works.
Once I got to know that there was some extra “voltage” on my line. My query is – is there any way to know where the problem started. The BSNL customer care is pathetic and they don’t tell the facts. Once there was a problem in the entire area and they gave me “instructions” to change modem settings. To repeat my query, is there any way to determine the source of discontinuity when I have a working phone and link, correct modem settings etc.
My thanks in advance. @harish Some modems fail,(a) even if there is a power surge ( example Mt882).(b) Bsnl server can fail.(c) some websites may not open. quoteI have a working phone and link, correct modem settings etc/quote (d)Your Dynamic DNS changes often. (e)Post frequency of disconnection for 24 hours. Or say for 6 hours. (f)A log is created in the modem check it.
Servers fails/ modem fails/ computer freezes ( memory low ) You say all are ok and then internet connection is disconnected. You have not given feedback to various suggestions made.
Just reading the post and dash a reply repeating the same things AND blaming bsnl cc again does not help. You made a point BSNL CC is “ineffective”. Now why you want to add it is “pathetic”? In next post say bsnl cc is “worst” etc. None can help without proper feed back. I am having a dell table top computer with VISTA operating system.
I have a BSNL Broadband connection. It was given through modem purchased by me. The modem is UT-300R. Recently i got magiclock phone from abroad. When I tried to connect magiclock and talk to Us, I am unable to get the other party and talk to them. When the same magiclock was tried with another BSNL BROADBAND CONNECTION AND A DIFFERENT MODEL MODEL IT WORKS PERFECTLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SOFTWARE IN THE MODEM IS TO BE TUNED FOR THIS PURPOSE.KINDLU GUIDE ME.
Please do reply to this very urgently. I have a Siemens modem which those BSNL guys gave me. I have been using it to run broadband on my desktop using the LAN port (Ethernet cable). Today my uncle asked me to connect the same internet to laptop and I did the same stuff. Connected the ethernet cable to the LAN port of laptop but unfortunately no green light could be seen on the ethernet port which I can see when I connect the ethernet cable to my CPUs ethernet port.
I did the same settings to laptop but whenever I enter 192.168.1.1 in address bar of explorer then it says page cannot be displayed. What is the actual problem?? I don’t ever install any drivers in my system for this modem to run and I didn’t even get any driver CD too.
What am I missing? Atleast the LED of ethernet port should glow when I connect the ethernet cable to that port?? Please do reply soon. Thanks for your quick answer The major problem is that the LED in Ethernet port isn’t glowing. I am talking about the green LED that glows when you insert the connector to the Ethernet port. When I insert that wire into the Ethernet port of laptop then the green LED doesn’t glows but when I insert the same into the Ethernet port of my desktop then it glows!!
So whenever I enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar then it says that it cannot open the page as it isn’t accepting the wire into the port. I just don’t know why?? I think the wires are universal all around the planet??right? Any suggestions?
@salman The wire is Rj45 cat 5.( 8 wires) modem to Computer Ethernet port. Another Telephone type Port not to be used ( if present.
That is for Dialup old 56K modem use ) You have not confirmed the changes I suggested have been made. You have repeated the problem again. Presume Laptop you can access the modem settings. In desktop computer type in TCP/IP 192.168.1.4 subnet 255.255.255.0 Default gateway 192.168.1.1 Dns 208.67.220.220.
And 208.67.222.222 OpenDNS. OR Simply see the setting in TCP/IP properties page in Laptop! IP address should be different for different computers. Guys someone pls help me.Got connected with a BSNL HOME UL700 plan with an ITI DNA-211 modem. The thing is every time the modem is switched OFF and back ON the PPPoE settings gets reset(UNAME:multiplayer PWD:password)also all other settings turn back to DEFAULT (NAT,Wirelessotherwise it works fine). Also the option to Restore a backed up setting is not working(After selecting the saved settings file it says “Page not available”). I guess the firmware is corrupt(in that case where to find the firmware) or something.I will be much grateful if you can bail me out of this one. Also i’m from Madurai(TN).
I was using a UTStarcom 200R2U or something like that, that I bought from BSNL. It worked completely fien for 14 months, but one day the modem started rebooting. I asked BSNL about this and the reply was that the 1yr has expired and they are not responsible now. It is having broadcom chip. I am now currently using a Nokia-Seimens modem that they supplied on hire basis(not to do the fault again of buying a modem from them). Its working fine till date and I am having no problems. I want to ask is the faulty modem repairable. I had an ITI dna-a211-1 modem supplied by bsnl.
After like 2 years of use even i was having the same problem. Later i found that it was the power supply that was causing the problem. I changed the power supply and now the router is working fine as before. But make sure the power supply u get has the same voltage output and the current rating.
To find out if the power supply is really the culprit just disconnect the power supply from the router and turn the power supply on if after 2-3 minutes the power supply gets really hot then u are having a power supply problem. Ideally when the router is not connected to the power supply and the power supply is fed by the mains it should not heat up. This is aspecial asked to a gental man named “essbebe” cause everyone can see he is the SOLUTIONIST. Ok back to the point i recently have an BSNL broadband connection (Model ZXDSL831A2 from the Chines manufacturer ZTE) but it is not giving enough downloading speed(Its only 30 kbps).
Friends near my home gets awesome download speed upto 400 kbps with the same connection plan from BSNL. So i called the technicians from BSNL. But they cant do anything. They advice me to change my RAM(which is 256 MB).
So please guide me the right wayTHANK U SIR. Thanks for the nice words. As I am active in other forum/s,there could be some delay in replying in this Blog site.I would advise you to see the author’s @amitbhavani’s link given here. You could visit speedguide.net and download TCP/IP optimizer and use default values suggested there.
D/L max possible (.conditions apply) 2Mbps 256KB/sec in one minute 15MB file D/L 256kbps 32KB/sec in one minute 2 MB appr file. Check your speed at speedtest.net say Mumbai server.
Uncheck all other applications appearing in Task Bar. Keep only Antivirus and Firewall program/s. Mention your tariff plan. My terrif plan is Home 500. And SIR i try first link first it is about changing LAN property(IP/TCP) but it couldn’t make any improovement in downloading speed. Then i try speedguide.net and download a TCP optimizer and set it to optimal settings but it couldn’t make any change. When i go for speedtest.net the result were as under: Fastest Download: 381 kb/s Fastest Upload: 291 kb/s Average Download: 381 kb/s Average Upload: 291 kb/s But with dataone.in site, the results were below: Your Current Bandwidth Reading: 205.80kbps (Download Rate at 25.73 KB/sec) And taht is the correct speed coz when i start download IE7 from microsoft website, it only gives 25 kbps speed.
Last link provides correct configuration but my modem ZXDSL 831AII is well cofigured and working properly. Sir, below are the test result by speedguide.net TCP/IP Analyzer: TCP properties for IP = 117.198.186.53 (117.198.186.53) Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1;.NET CLR 2.0.50727) Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address. From ITI manufacturers of Bangalore. The router is very unstable and resets its settings every 24 hours or so and there seems to be some problem in getting the even simplest settings to be retained. Maybe some memory leaks or something like that. But im sure there are chances that a firmware upgrade may do the job.
So I request if anyone got links to firmware for this model of my roouter provided by BSNL. PS Tried google, but no hope. Tried BSNL customer care for lot of times but they are noobs.
They dont understand 🙠x81. @essbebe If you did scan MY previous post here, you would have noticed that I am not asking for instructions to setup the modem. Btw, I exactly am configuring the settings in my modem like that. But whatever you do, the settings dont get saved.
For eg, If i change the password of my modem to something else, and reboot the modem, the password will be the default itself. I mean nothing gets saved on my modem the problem emerged recently without any misconfiguration I think the memory needs to be flashed or something like that. So what do you think essbebe?

PS: Later, BSNL tech staff came in and couldnt solve it but said would experiment on it. Hi Amit/Everybody, I have just got the BSNL connection with DNA-A211-1 ADSL2+ modem. I wanted to setup PPPoE and access net on my WiFi phone (iPhone). However I am not able to access 192.168.1.1. When I am connected and browsing internet, i can access 192.168.1.1 or even ping 192.168.1.1 but i cann’t go ahead using user name and password as admin (even tried “password” and keeping it blank). When i am not connected it does not ping. It can’t even access 192.168.1.1 to display a dialog box for user name and password.
Please help, if i can’t access net on my phone then its useless having a wifi modem. Can write on kalpesh03@gmail Thanks Kalpesh. PLZ HELP ME Hi frnds, I use BSNL broadband. My problem is that I cannot access internet from my laptop where as I can connect from my desktop computer easily. I’m not talking about connecting simultaneously. When I try to connect from my laptop, the IP address generated is 169.254., which is a self-assigned address by the operating system (Windows XP) when it cannot access the DHCP.
I tried repairing connection, did all troubleshooting methods that I got during hours of googling. Anyway there is no change. I dont have any idea what the problem is. My friend suggested that the ADSL modem stores the MAC address of my desktop computer in it and hence there is address mismatch when i try to connect from my laptop. How to solve this?
Is it because of PPPOE configuration? I’m in trouble as my desktop is not working now! Unni it seems that the DHCP server option is not enabled in your modem therefore you are not getting it right on your laptop. Change the LAN setting manually in your laptop i presume that will do the trick.
Open control panel = Network connections = local Area connection = properties = Click internet protocol Tcp/Ip = properties = use the following IP addresses = IP address 192.168.1.10 =subnet mask 255.255.255.0 =default gateway 192.168.1.1 =use the following dns server 192.168.1.1 and then OK in each window. And i’m typing this from my laptop. I dont know how to thank u. Thanks a lot, my dear friend. But one more doubt- In the status window the IP is shown as 192.168.1.10 (as we have given in tcp/ip properties) and the address type is shown as manually configured. So my doubt is that will I be able to connect always using this IP?
Since we are given dynamic IP, won’t there be someone using the same address? Also, is there any problem with BSNL for configuring IP and DHCP manually (since thats not the way they need us to use this connection.) Please answer my question eventhough u feel its a blunder Thank you. Shank, it worked! Thanks a lot. My previous comment was blocked for moderation. So i’m posting it again.
I have one more doubt- can I connect to Internet always using this configuration? I’m asking this coz BSNL is offering dynamic IP, and wont there be someone using this IP already when I try to connect? Also, is there any problem with BSNL to use their connection in this way?(as they intend us to obtain dynamic IP and we are trying to set an IP manually) Please answer this even though u feel my question is a blunder. I cant understand why people not well conversant with tweaking electronic devices do so and blame the service provider and most of the time in deference to the private operator. I just started using the BSNL BB H500C. I just connected the WA3002G4 4 10/100 ethernet/WiFi and it worked fine. Earlier, in my area the ISP was not offering BB because it was not feasible.
I am very happy with the PSU and would recommend all. There are instances when BB is not available so do the private ISPs. We need to appreciate how essebee is able to handle so many ‘semi techs’ withought raising his temperature.
I pay for the service still I think I need to talk in favour of the the Co which is doing so much specially coverage as against nil from the private operators. More Info related to the problem ——————————————————————————– Thanks for the prompt reply. I’ll explain my problem in detail. I’ve a PC that runs on Windows XP and a desktop pc Windows XP SP2.
I’ve successfully connected my pc.However when I’m trying to connect my PC to broadband via ethernet I’m unable to do so. The network I think the problem is with the IP address that my PC connection is acquiring when connected. Ipconfig on PC shows Auto configuration IP address:169.254.161.99 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0 Default gateway: 169.254.161.99 ipconfig on Laptop shows IPv4 Address.: 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask.: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway.: 192.168.1.1 Pleal Solve Problem My modem is NOKIA SIEMENSS NETWORKS C2110 (FROM BSNL).
Ya i’m having this weird “Reset problem” too. I’m in bangalore and have the ITI DNA- A211-I modem.
At first it only reset if the power went off, so i resolved that by connecting it to the UPS however the settings still got reset after 24-48 hrs. I’ve been using the “update” method to restore my settings with a backup file. And it was fine for a few months, until yesterday, when it stopped applying the settings! No matter what i do- manual entry or use the backup files, it just refuses to save the settings, everytime i apply the settings and save and reboot, it just goes back to original settings.
In computer START Network LAN properties Network settings page opens click TCP/IP properties New page type 192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 APPLY SAVE Now try admin admin or Admin password Still not available RESET the modem to factory settings. Select your modem from link given below. See this link; broadbandforum.in/bsnl-broadband/50052-utstar-wa3002-g4-vade-mecum-quick-reference/#post331246 This post contains many links and will help in settings of BSNl modems ( NON WI Fi ) as well as wi fi routers. Another one: for port forwarding indiabroadband.net/bsnl-broadband/21422-sl2-141-portforwarding-quick-reference.html. I have a UT300R2U(900 UL) modem and Win XP SP 3 comp. My problem is that the modem keeps re-starting(power goes on-off) when the phone line(from splitter) is connected to DSL socket in modem and the Lan wire(RJ 45) is connected between modem and comp. When the wires are connectes individually, i.e; splitter to modem (or) modem to comp., the modem is steady and the modem doesn’t restart again and again. But, one needs both the above connections to connect to the net!! What is the problem? Why does it keep re-starting?
There is no problem with the phone line. Hi guys.i had tried the ip adress 192.168.1.1 and then typed the username admin and password admin.then i went through the advanced setup and clicked on wan button then i actually removed all my configuration settings and saved and rebooted now i cannot access the internet.then i clicked on add button then maked a PPoE connection now i can connect through the connection by just putting the modem on but i can access it only on my computer but not laptop. I want to reconfigure all the settings and connect the internet manually by dialing. Please provide me steps to again make settings and connect maually.my modem name is dna-a211-l.

Coz it doesnt stop blinking.n even if i reset the modem, once it is connected it again begins to blink i can almost not accesss thenet at all. For wifi, are you sure you have a wireless card installed on both the systems? Anyways On your pc all you have to do is connect the ethernbet cable and configure the modem to your connection line through its admin page for wifi you should meet the above condition and of course you should have a wifi router.are you sure you have one.if yes then set it up to the modem and configure the WEP and WPA settings.set a paraphase that you could use to access your router!!
Your laptop should automatically search for available netwroks and you can connect to it via your paraphase key!!! Hello sir, i have bsnl 500c plan with nokia siemns modem type1. I have 2 problems sir, i have instant connection and not dialler and it does not even connect from 2am to 8am but it connects well at other periods.bsnl people says that they here this for the first time & they dont know wht to do. So i decided to change instant connection to dialler which may solve my problem.bsnl people gave me the steps to change the connection through phone.i gave the username and password at the dns server as “admin” as they said. Plz post the details of the modem you are using, the connection type and also specify if you have a wifi router along with the modem or combinedif not then how are you connecting the three pcs?? Maybe that wud make it easier for to answer your queries.
As of what i know, if you are using a single adsl 2/2+ modem then you can connect two computers at a time sharing your speed and bandwidth.one through Ethernet cable and other through usb( make sure you have drivers for usb). Hello Sir, Since yesterday my internet was working ( m having broadband 250 plan with ZTE 831 A II modem). Hi, I have a Nokia Siemens ADSL2+ broadband modem for my BSNL connection. I was using it with cable so far. I wanted to connect it via wireless and after lots of attempts I was able to do it. In the process, I reset it to factory settings. Good news is I am now able to connect it wirelessly.
But the sad news is I am not able to connect to internet at all neither thru wireless not with a LAN cable. The dialup window says the line is busy. When I connect on wireless, the internet LED is glowing in the modem.
Please help in getting connected to internet. Hi Every one, I need help. I used to Use Tata DOCOMO 3G USB. I never had problen in connectivity but all of a sudden it says data consumed! So Recently I got a BSNL BB connection with 4Mbps Plan.
Normally it works fine. But I need to connect VPN for my office purpose. Whenever I connect VPN the speed comes to few hundred Kbps, I can not browse internet.
I am using BSNL AN1020-02 ADSL2+router. If I use Bridge connection, issues resolves but I can connect only one cpmputer to the router ans speed comes close to 1Mbps. Normally I get 3+Mbps speed.
Can some expert help me? I will be really thankful to you. Hi have UTSTARCOM model – UT300R2U provided by bsnl. I set my modem setting according as shown in top of this page ie.
Enter the PPPoE username & password which every bsnl broadband users are given via phone and click on next to save the configuration and you are done setting up the bsnl ADSL2+ but i still not able to connect with internet. Can any one tell me if i need to do some thing with pc setting. Dear Sir/Madam, I have recently purchased a DIGISOL ADSL 2/2+Wireless Broadband router DG-BG4011N.
I have my ISP providinhg the net facility thorugh a Cable modem (Motorola). The input coming through a cable I am not able to give the input in the right format to the ADSL 2/2+Wireless Broadband router DG-BG4011N. Or alternately can I give the output of the cable modem(Motorola) to the ADSL 2/2+Wireless Broadband router DG-BG4011N in RJ45 format? In that case can I use only the router part of the equipment and if so how do I do it? When I tried this option, the network is getting connected and packets are being sent and received as well. Regards Thank you A krishnan. I have a problem. “I am using bsnl broadband connection through modem- ZXDSL-831AII. Two week ago I found a problem that the DSL of the modem start blinking for several minutes and rarely it get stable. It happens mostly during night hour, letting me unable to rarely connect to internet during night.
After lodging two or three complaint in bsnl office at last on 28.06.13 they send one of the technician to solve the problem. He told me that problem is due to the malfunctioning(without checking it technically with any technical instrument) of my ZXDSL-831AII modem, with that he gave me his modem AR800V v3.0.
So that I can check whether the problem is occurring due to the malfunctioning of my ZXDSL-831AII modem or form Bsnl. But I having same problem with AR800V v3.0 during night & day hours, though it is reduced a little during night hours but it is still there both during day & night hours. “so, kindly help me in sorting out this problem. Provide steps so I can check my ZXDSL 831AII modem technically with technical instrument to find whether it is malfunctioning or not? And please provide steps to lodge a complaint in consumer court against bsnl because I have purchased a unlimited bsnl broadband plan and I am unable to use it. If any one having problem with DNA-A211-1? Very easy solution, open router typing 192.168.1.1 in browser click advance setup click wireless click wireles enable you can change ssid to any name “LNJH” or KKPT or cccp etc INDIA save wait for some time click security click WPA-PSK TKIP type WPA shared key atleast ten characters save and wait now click advance setup check all but don’t check -0.32 click remove and wait than click ADD UBR WITHOUT PCR next next next and SAVE only, do not reboot wait for one minut restart modem wait wait and DONE.
Hi, I have recently purchased BSNL FTTH, and from day 1 i got this problem, the IP address is keep resetting, when I called BSNL officer, they said it happens to some people. During the first setup of BSNL FTTH, they asked me to open 192.168.1.251 and enter the username and password given to me (under WAN) and click on Apply, it connected to Internet. But as and when the power gone, these settings got reset, everytime power goes i need to connect to this ip address and keep re entering the username and password(even though I can see username and password present) but the WAN status would show as Connecting, so i have been advised to erase the username and password and retype it. And have to click apply thrice, and the worst part is, even after apply it will not be connected, i hvae to unplug Ethernet cable, switch off the connection and repeat it again. Do you have any permanent solution for this??
